The Engineering department reviews and designs construction plans for public improvements for compliance with City, State, and Federal guidelines, including paving, drainage, water lines, sewer lines and traffic control. Engineering Construction Inspectors inspect project sites for compliance with approved plans.

Engineering Inspections

The chart to the right shows Engineering inspection trends for the current and previous fiscal years. Engineering Inspectors conduct project site visits to inspect items related to public improvements, including paving, drainage, water lines, sewer lines, and traffic control. Inspection trends tend to correspond to the number of large-scale private, public, and capital improvement (CIP) projects occurring in the city.

Overtime Inspections

The chart to the left displays the number of overtime inspections conducted by Engineering inspectors. Overtime inspections may be necessary when workloads exceed normal working hours or when a project's progress is expedited.

Capital Improvement Projects (CIP)

A Capital Improvement Project is a project designed to improve city infrastructure. Projects can vary, including repaving streets, replacing water and sewer lines, redesigning intersections, and traffic studies. The Engineering Department works closely with Public Services to design and manage CIP projects.
